With 27 different types of ferns growing
here, it is easy to see why this is such a popular stop on the Duck
tour. Keep your eyes open, you won't want to miss the beautiful
scenery that is characteristic of Wisconsin Dells.
It's amazing to see the large variety of
ferns that grow here such as the walking fern, the interrupted fern
and the cinnamon fern. With names like these, Fern Dell seems like
a world unto its own. The cliffs you can see on either side of the
Duck act as a natural air conditioner providing excellent growing
conditions for the many fern varieties.
Looking for a cool summer
vacation activity? Fern Dell is a great place on a hot summer day.
Visitors cool off as the temperature drops as much as 12 degrees
lower here than in other areas of the Dells. Leaving Fern Dell,
Normandy Beach will "splash" into the water.
